With Internet Explorer and Internet Tools, you can use Connection Manager as your default dialer when Dial-Up Networking is already installed. Media Players: Apple QuickTime: QuickTime is Apple's video technology that allows you to play high-quality video directly on your computer. QuickTime is a set of extensions that, when used with movie software, lets you view video clips or even full-length video productions. New features in QuickTime 5.0 include QuickTime VR for increased 360-degree virtual reality scenes; Flash 4 support for greater interactivity; a custom skinable interface; MPEG-1 capabilities, and an enhanced DV codec for faster rendering of digital video. RealNetworks RealPlayer: RealPlayer allows you to enjoy streaming audio and video on networks and the Internet. Features include destination buttons for one-click access to news and entertainment; near CD-quality audio (28.8-kbps and faster connections only); and full-screen video capability (high-bandwidth connections only). RealPlayer now includes over 2,500 radio stations, the Take 5 entertainment programming showcase, and more. Take 5 brings you a daily dose of the latest headlines, features, music, comedy, and original entertainment from over 100 media providers. It is updated each day, with a special "Best of" weekend edition. Nullsoft Winamp: Winamp plays MPEG Layer 2 (MP2) and Layer 3 (MP3) audio streams and combines extensive functionality with an intuitive interface (see screenshot). It has a full-featured playlist editor and a 10-band graphic equalizer with user-definable presets that can automatically load specific files. It also features Windows Media Technology 4.0 input/output support and the industry-standard Fraunhofer MP3 decoder. Windows Media Player: Windows Media Player consists of seven features in a single application: a CD player, an audio and video player, a media jukebox, a media guide, an Internet radio tuner, a portable device that you can transfer music files to, and an audio CD burner. These software programs are combined into one easy-to-use application designed to make playing digital media a mainstream experience. An audio CD creator and a unified player are also included with the program. Web Essentials: Adobe Acrobat Reader: The Adobe Acrobat Reader allows you to view, navigate, browse, and print portable document format (PDF) files that have been created by Adobe Acrobat. It also enables you to fill in visually rich, interactive PDF forms. An ActiveX control for Internet Explorer and a plug-in for Netscape Navigator are included and automatically installed in the browser of your choice. Macromedia Flash Player: Flash plays small, fast, and fun multimedia buttons, as well as interactive animations, flying logos, and graphics created in Macromedia Flash. This player is very small, takes only a short time to download, and is a great starting point for experiencing multimedia on the Web. Flash Player also supports high-fidelity MP3 streaming audio, text entry fields, interactive interfaces, and more. All Flash formats can be viewed with this latest release. Flash Player is practically an Internet standard when it comes to viewing multimedia content on the Web. Animations and graphics created for the player are often engaging and well-executed. We think that the new features in the Flash Player 5.0 format promise to make these multimedia experiences more exciting than ever. Radiate Go!Zilla: GoZilla Free is an Internet file management and retrieval system that lets you gather URL links for files you want to download, simply by dragging them from your browser. GoZilla also lets you see file sizes instantly, estimate download times, and monitor your network connection performance. Add as many download locations for a file as you can find; when GoZilla retrieves the file for you, it will check all available locations and deliver the fastest possible connection. Multiple FTP search engines are included for finding files and mirror sites. GoZilla also lets you schedule files for later downloading, when network traffic dies down. GoZilla features MonsterUpdate, which lets you monitor your favorite programs for updates and announcements; a folder-based, Windows Explorer-style interface in which to manage your categories; download optimization; persistent connections; and customizable user windows. Nico Mak Winzip: WinZip is a straightforward, fast, and easy-to-use zipping and unzipping utility that includes built-in support for popular Internet file formats such as TAR, ZIP, UUencode, XXencode, BinHex, MIME, and Unix-compressed files. Older ARC, ARJ, and LZH files are supported via external programs (see screen shot). It comes with the following new features: 1. Instant email, which compresses one or more files, then attaches the compressed files to a blank message in your email client. 2. An enhanced WinZip wizard that allows you to create and update ZIP files and extract and install from MIME and similarly encoded files. 3. An enhanced Classic interface that is more like Windows (an Explorer-style toolbar is available). 4. WinZip now automatically installs Windows desktop themes and screensavers that it has extracted.
